Supporting kids’ oral health is one of the greatest gifts we can give them toward creating a vibrant, healthy future. Good oral hygiene and regular dental visits are a big part of that, along with things like good nutrition, staying active, and getting enough sleep.
As our patients and regular readers of this blog well know, a healthy mouth and a healthy body are inseparable. And the earlier you start to nurture the habits that sustain both, the better.
That’s why we’re so excited to be taking an even greater role in making that happen by now offering biological pediatric dental services here in our St. Louis office. Our expanded mission now includes providing children with the kind of biological, biocompatible dental care that we’ve offered our adult patients for many years now.
This means NO mercury fillings and the option of NO fluoride treatment during regular visits for exams and cleanings. We offer options such as all ceramic (white) crowns as an alternative to traditional stainless steel crowns. We are currently researching options for metal-free space maintainers for use when indicated.
Indeed, because children’s bodies are so much smaller than adults’, it’s all the more vital that they receive biocompatible dental care that supports their whole body health and well-being.
To provide just that, we’ve welcomed another dentist onto our team: Dr. Ackeilia Heatrice.
A native of Jamaica, Dr. Heatrice spent her formative years in New York City. She earned her Bachelor of Science in biology with a minor in finance from Manhattanville College and graduated from Howard University College of Dentistry in 2009. The following year, she completed a one-year General Practice Residency program at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Washington DC.
Dr. Heatrice completed her pediatric residency training at the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Columbia University at Harlem Hospital Center in New York City, where she received extensive training in treating children of all ages, including special needs children. She is a board-certified Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry.
Dr. Heatrice and her husband have twin boys who keep her very busy. In her spare time, she loves to garden.
We are so excited by all she brings to our office: her excellent skills, her deep knowledge, her positive demeanor, and so much more. We are honored to have her on our Rehme Dental Care team.
