It’s been one year since I began writing articles for the Healthy Planet. It’s been a wonderful opportunity for me to share my thoughts and insights regarding biological dentistry with you. Biological Dentistry is an old, but disregarded, concept in dentistry that’s slowly reviving. It’s continuing to evolve as more legitimacy is being given to the interactions between the teeth and gums and the rest of the body. I intend to provide you, each month, with the latest knowledge about the Tooth and Body Connection.
The message I’d like to present to you this month is quite simple: Take responsibility for your health. Learn to be proactive instead of reactive. Don’t take your health for granted. More often than not, we tend to ignore warning signs that suggest we see our health care providers in a timely fashion.
How long has it been since your last medical examination or dental check up? Unfortunately, too many excuses seem to interfere with our best intentions. Too busy, don’t have a doctor, no insurance, I feel fine, and the list goes on. Stop the procrastination and do the right thing.
Educate yourself and be informed. Knowledge develops into wisdom. Wisdom empowers you to make the right decisions for yourself and your loved ones.
It’s February. However, if you’re still looking for a New Year’s resolution, let’s try this one: promise yourself to “make the call.” Whether it’s your physician, chiropractor, naturopath or your dentist, make the call. Set up your appointments this month. Make your health a priority this year.
Write yourself a note on a piece of paper. Tape it to your refrigerator door. Place it on your phone at work, or the dashboard of your car. Make it a constant reminder, until you “make the call.” It could be the most important thing you do for yourself all year long. And if you can’t do it for yourself, then think about your family and those who care about you most.
Having your health is more important than anything else in the world. Take charge of your life. Make it a healthy and prosperous new year. Carpe diem! Seize the day!
